Property Size
Kapa Kapa 12,355 acres (5000 Ha)
Summary
The Kapa Kapa property is situated in the Halmahera volcanic arc and is therefore potentially prospective for a range of magmatic-associated copper, gold and silver mineralisation types ranging from deeper porphyry copper mineralisation through mesothermal gold and silver mineralisation to shallow epithermal gold-silver mineralisation. Previous exploration has indicated the presence of mesothermal to epithermal gold-silver mineralisation and when combined with the presence of the high grade Gosowong epithermal deposits (5 million ounces averaging 24g/t Au) in a similar geological setting approximately 100km to the south, makes low sulphidation epithermal mineralisation the main target type.
The exploration concept for the project is based on the potential to host economic epithermal gold and silver mineralisation similar to Newcrest's Gosowong deposits.
The property is located in a similar geological setting as the Gosowong epithermal vein deposits and contains prospects where epithermal style veining and alteration has been mapped coincident with gold mineralisation. Regional exploration discovered epithermal mineralisation at the Pediwang Creek prospect within the current Kapa Kapa tenement.
Previous exploration programs included mapping, petrological studies, stream sediment, rock chip and soil sampling programs as well as trenching, pitting and drilling.
Location and Access
The property is located in the north of the north arm of Halmahera Island in the North Maluku Province of Indonesia approximately 2400km northeast of the Indonesian capital of Jakarta Access to Halmahera island from the Indonesian capital of Jakarta is by daily commercial flights to the North Maluku provincial capital of Ternate, on Ternate island, or to the town of Kao via Manado in North Sulawesi and then a good quality sealed road for a three hour trip from Kao
The Kapa Kapa project area covers an area of moderately rugged hills and incised valleys with elevations from 100 to 300m above sea level.
Halmahera straddles the equator and has a typical tropical climate with high rainfall, high humidity and even all year round temperatures. The wet season falls between October and April but the region is outside the cyclone/typhoon zone and fieldwork and mining can be conducted all year round.
